Freshers’ Fair and a Big Welcome Back!
September 13, 2013 in main by guamnesty
Hi everyone, *Welcome back to another year of GU Amnesty!* I hope you’ve all had a lovely Summer and are looking forward to getting back into hectic student life (where applicable) and our weekly news with this year’s upcoming campaigns and events. *Freshers’ Fair * * * You will find us at the *SRC Freshers’ Fair* next *Tuesday 17th* and *Wednesday 18th* in the Marquee, Stall 105 from *10am – 4pm*. We have also been given a stall at the *QMU Freshers’ Fair* on* Friday 20th* in QUDOS. Please do come and say hello if you are about, the more the merrier and those of us who are there all day would love some extra bodies to help out. *Meetings* * * As always, we shall be meeting on* Tuesdays at 5pm in the QMU*, Committee Room 1. Our first meeting will be the *24th September*, and we plan on having a social afterwards, with Jana currently in the process of finding a suitable venue. I hope to see as many of you as possible and I will be sending more details next Friday. *Coming up* * * A date for the diaries already! We are co-hosting a meeting on *Tibet *with STAR (Student Action for Refugees) which will be on *Wednesday 2nd October 6-8pm. *It’s not during our usual slot, but due to having an external speaker, this was the date that worked out easiest for him. Our speaker Theo Hessley is on tour to promote his documentary on the Tibetan self-immolations, which will be shown in *Boyd Orr 412 (Lecture Theatre B).* The documentary lasts 30 minutes and will be followed by a Q&A and discussion with Theo. That’s all for now, so for those of you engaging in the freshers’ week madness, enjoy! Ruth
